² The Demon of love /or lust is the translation for Zburător, which is the Romanian word for “flyer”. The Flyer is a Romanian folklore spirit which makes love to maidens by night. The “zburător” or “sburător” can also refer to a demon that takes the shape of a young handsome man, visiting women – especially recently married ones or pregnant ones – in their sleep, like the incubus. It cannot be seen by other people.
References to this myth appear in the romantic poem by Ion Heliade Rădulescu ”Zburătorul”
