“The Demon of Love Artistic Residence” Event
1) Only by invitation, on Youtube, a link will be sent to the participants.
2) The Demon of love /or lust is the translation for Zburător, which is the Romanian word for “flyer”. The Flyer is a Romanian folklore spirit which makes love to maidens by night. The “zburător” or “sburător” can also refer to a demon that takes the shape of a young handsome man, visiting women – especially recently married ones or pregnant ones – in their sleep, like the incubus. It cannot be seen by other people.
References to this myth appear in the romantic poem by Ion Heliade Rădulescu ”Zburătorul” (1844). It reappears in the late romantic literature, in poems such as Călin (file de poveste) (Călin (story pages)) and Luceafărul (The Evening Star) (1884) by Romanian most emblematic poet Mihai Eminescu.
